Re-directing Children
When my 3 year old son is misbehaving, I find it easiest to re-direct his attention to another activity. Let's take for instance, he is bothering the dogs. Instead of telling him to stop, I will direct his attention to a toy truck. This quickly makes him forget about bothering the dogs, and prevents another trip to "time out". I have found that showing him good things to do instead of constantly saying, "no, don't do that" has worked much better. It also cuts down on the temper tantrums that come along with punishing kids! |
